Helping animals in their habitats
Wondering how you can help in the aftermath of our largest single oil spill disaster in the U.S. to date? Yes, you can reach into your pockets or donate supplies to such organizations as PATH (People Protecting Animals & Their Habitats) but there are also small daily changes you can make that can help prevent things like this from ever happening. Our dependancy on oil has consequences and while we all talk about how dreadful it is, we often forget that making certain choices as individuals in our daily routines make us complacent. Here are a few things you can do this summer to help make a difference:
- decrease the use of air conditioning in your home
- buy seasonably from local farmers markets
- go vegetarian
- reduce plastic waste
- filter your tap water
- composting
These things aren’t for your crazy hippie neighbors anymore, this is real life threatening stuff and we all play our part. At Cri de Coeur, we are always trying to make the best possible choices for the animals and our environment. We do not find these choices difficult to make, but we know that sometimes the easier route and often less costly one would take us where we want to go faster. But this is not something we are willing to sacrifice. We are not alone with these business practices but we hope to encourage more businesses and individuals to do the same. It’s just about doing what you can. And then taking it one step further by doing what you thought you never could.
